Days with Fedo at Güzel Çamlı

It was worth every minute of staying and visiting Fedo(Fedakar) in her lovely summer house. She was a friend of mine from the college in 1970 ies.But we have found each other after almost forty years later via Computer and have become close friends.Surprisingly,we did not meet in summers although we were at the same area for long years. She met us at the airport with a board her usual smile on her face. She must have spent hours in the kitchen.
She had cooked her specialities and filled her freezer up before we came as she wanted to spend more time with us and chat about our old days rather than cooking in the kitchen.Listening to music with the candles on ,toasting for health was memorable ambience for all of us.It was reunion of old friends who were looking forward to getting together at her home for a while .I will miss her and her lovely summer house with an amazing sea view.
Thank you Fedo for all your kind and warm hospitality. You were the most beautiful and the best host I have ever met.

Kuşadası-Güzel Çamlı

Güzel Çamlı is a very beatiful summer site at Kuşadası by the Aegean sea.My visit to a close friend who has got a house just by the sea in the site was wonderful.I enjoyed walking and I could snap the moon rise and the sunset that was amazing sipping wine and watching .I sometimes noticed that pale moon was still in the sky while the sunrising.

My creation with shells.

It was rather hot to go for a walk or do gardening for me after the early morning swimmings.I enjoyed reading the books I wanted to but I felt bored sometimes and played with the shells I collected.I liked them there on side of the stairs.
There is plenty room to design more.I will complete it next summer .Am I a talented woman ha ha ?

Lülü is ready for the beach.

Isn't she gorgeous in her red hat and with her red beach bag?She wouldn't go to the seaside without them. Her parents are really patient with her as they have to look for her hat and handbag for half an hour before they go to the beach.

Mavikent and Eylül

:)I hope you can see it:) Here it is the woodpecker on the almond tree that wakes me up early with its ticks...tacks.

Our summer house is at one of the beautiful bays by the Mediterranean.I sometimes can not get my longer morning sleeps on holiday to listen to the various songs of the birds. This is the picture of sunrising from my balkony.I could snap it trying to find on which tree the woodpecker was .I also added the picture of the view after the sunset.
You can not imagine the joy of swimming in crystal clear sea watching the sunrise and pale moon in the sky.

Goodbye mum and dad!

I visited them for the last time on my way back home and stayed there talking with them for a while, promised to come again and thanked them from the bottom of my heart for what they had done for their children and for being the best parents in the world.
I did not feel so sad because I always feel them by my side and I will forever!

I was pleased to have my parents latest residence built nicely. We invited some relatives ,who knew my mum and dad well , to read prayers from Kuran together and served dessert and rosewater.I felt the souls of them along with me and that was a relief for me in a way that I and my sister achieved our task as their children.I expect to see flowers blooming on their graves in my next visit.

Pretty Small Lake in Şarkışla

It was immensly relaxing walking by the small lake surrounded by tall poplar and willow trees. It is said to be that people produce the best quality natural salt from the lake that makes the most delicious meals, pickles and white cheese.I bought two sacks of salt to give away my friends and relatives in Adana thinking it would be a nice gift.It would be a good investment for the local people if they could sell it through out the country but it might be just enough for them as ıt was a small lovely lake by Şarkışla.

ŞARKIŞLA TRAIN STATION

There it was the station where my dad used to take to go to Sivas for his high school as there was no one in Şarkışla in 1930 ies.It was running on coal and very slow ,of course. Most of my dad's stories, who used to tell us at the dinner table drinking his rakı in tea glass , crossed my mind as I was walking down to the station with my sister. She was quiet too I was sure of that she also remembered our dinner times when we were old enough listen to his memories about the station in Şarkışla;how he used to share his only food helva and bread with the other passengers, how he would joke elderlies who did not know how to read and write. My memories were still alive though they were told long long years ago!

ŞARKIŞLA -MY HOMETOWN

Visiting my hometime after a long time was both exciting and emotional for me.I listened so many stories about this small town in the memories of my dad.It wasn't a happy visit as my sister and I went there to have my mum's and dad's resting places built. It was just a lovely small Anatolian town with its own characteristics where all the people living in there were very familiar to each other or relatives. You could feel the friendly and benevolent atmosphere whereever you went.

FATHER'S DAY

We celebrated Fathers'day yesterday together with our elderly friends. We took them to a small cafe by the dam lake to have tea .We have been friends since our college years. ( almost forty years ago.)Their children are living far so we thought it would be a good idea to be with them on this special occasion. They were very pleased that we shared our time with them. We were also happy to talk about our memorible times in Erzurum where I studied English at the university.

CARPETS

Adana is the city I live in and it is in the south Turkey. People go to the seaside or to the mountains to spend the hottest time of the Summer . I listened to many stories about moving to the mountain houses that I will mention to you later.

I thought , when I went to my usual early morning walks, those hanging carpets at the balkonies looked strange if you looked at them as a foreigner.

When the weather gets warmer ,most people clean the carpets or have them washed and hang them out in the balkonies to get well dried in the sun then they put moth balls in them before the carperts have been rolled up and put in a special cupboards or corners in homes.I do the same of course because you can not bare to see anything laid on the floors in the heat .So that you can see many different carpets at the balkonies, some made by hands some not, some are colourful some are plain.

It is possible to guess what type of people they are at a glance to the carpets hanging down from their balkonies. Can you guess by looking at the picture?

SMILING AT NINETY!

My mother -in-law is always pozitive thinking elderly.I have never heard her saying something bad about something even bad.She expects to be much better and cook or run about in the house as she used to do years ago.She has been looked after very well and she loves to tell her memories and never gets tired. The only difficulty is if she does not remember a word she forgets the rest of the story. she has 8 children and 19 grandchildren and 10 great-granddaughters and great -grandsons.She has managed with life succesfuly.Don't you think so?I am sure her prayers are also for me .

You can see how happy she is in the pictures.

Ha Ha she does not know what to do next.

Drawing lesson with granddad.

Doesn't she look funny with my eyeglasses?

BEING GRANNIE OF EYLÜL

Parenting my granddaughter Eylül was a great joy for both of us.She was a brave little girl who came to visit us by plane without her parents at the age of two and a half year. She easily accepted living with us causing no problem althought it was her first visit. She was as if she were living together with us for a long time. Taking her out the park,to a cafe or restaurant, watching her eating ice-cream ,shortly being with her was a great happiness for me(grannie) and for her granddad. She brought sunshine to our life.
She is a self-confident matured little girl like her mother was. I still hear her joyous screams while playing with her new friends here!
I hope to be with her for long years and watch her grow well.

As the weather gets warmer,I have started dreaming of being there ,at MAVİ KENT.
I have missed swimming in cristal clear water and chatting and drinking refreshment in the shadow of pine trees at the beach.
Oh my balkony!I wonder what can be better and restful than drinking tea at my balkony after swimming.I have another dream. My granddaughter will be here soon.My husband and I are looking forward to her visit and the time we will spent with her.

My jolly flowers

I love all kinds of flowers. They are the taste of nature even though you grow them in pots or greet them wherever they are. Aren't they gorgeous?
